PDD and Second Son had been watching a scary movie, but ended up watching the inside of their eyelids.

Almost 21 years ago (8 days shy of 21 years ago, to be exact), I became a mother. Of course, I was going to be the best mom ever (weren't we all?!) and my children would listen, do what they were told without argument, understand that I knew what was best for them and thank me for being such a good mom. Yeah - well, one can dream, right? In the years since, I have fucked up just about every way imaginable when it comes to mothering. Big mistakes, little mistakes and all sizes of mistakes in between. And the hell of it is, I'm STILL fucking up on a regular basis. But, I'm ok with my fuck ups, and here's why:

I just finished Between the Bridge and the River and let me just say – that book is one I’m now going to BUY and read again. Yeah, it’s like that. Every so often, I get a hankerin’ to read something just for the joy of reading. When I was young, I read so much, I often got told to “put that book down and go outside and play!” Today, it’s a little easier for me what with all the great blogs being written – I don’t have to go to the library or Barnes & Noble to read...

This photo was taken by my camera, yes, but not by me. Second Son went to Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium and the Netherlands last summer and this is one of the photos he took in Ireland. So, it’s a photo taken by...

Some of you may have received this a bazillion times via email – I know I have. But each time I receive it, I laugh at the levels of irony represented within, so I’m sharing it here for those of you who haven’t seen it, and for posterity. Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0, and noticed a distinct slowdown in...
