Sell the Vatican, Feed the World

My friend, Tracy, hipped me to this video this morning. Well, ok, she posted it on her Facebook, but couldn’t wait until I made my way over to Facebook to see it, so she called me bright and early to tell me to go look.

Was it worth the phone call before I’d been properly caffeinated?

Oh yeah…

You know…she’s got a point. And the dang Vatican isn’t the only example, for sure. So, by posting this, I’m not picking on my Catholic friends…promise.

If we only imagine the richness of Vatican. The things around it like the artifacts was nearly priceless. In my calculation if they sell the Vatican they can feed and give a better life to those hungry people in the most depressed countries world wide, If only they realize that.

She’s definitely got a point. I’d totaly support this, if it wouldn’t be just stoopid bullshits she’s doing to get airtime.

  6. Thank you for posting this video. Only few bloggers blog about hunger.
As you wrote Vatican isn’t the only example. There many examples, where lot of money is “wasted” but at the same time, thousands of children die every day.

I see this movie as funny and funny could be the only thing that matters here. I’m not big fan of Vatican, but every idea such as “selling something big that we could feed all those poor children” is just stupid. Why? First thing: who would buy that huge thing and spent so much money to gain… not much. Second thing: how the money could be distribute to feed “all”? Third thing: do You really think that making “one time” money out of anything and spending them right away would solve any problem? In my opinion not. Africans (what is sad) in many countries are just fighting each other and robbing each other everyday. We should start from making peace there (another topic with no ending), investing in their education and access to new technologies. Maybe then, after years of hard work people would stop starving there.

I agree that there are things that could be sold that are worth millions. What if they sold some of the art to collectors? They’ve got stuff in storage they don’t ever see, tons of treasures just gathering dust. Wouldn’t it be great if they started to auction it all off and then feed the hungry with the money?
