It’s All About My Bite, They Say

Apr 21

So, I went to see said denturist on Friday. No surprise, he sang the "Keep Your Teeth as Long as You Can" song to me. Ugh. However, his wife/assistant/receptionist was much more supportive and gave me a lot of information and answered all my questions - from the obvious to the ridiculous. LOVE her. Dr. Denturist referred me to an oral surgeon for a consult and warned me that I'd have a hard sell trying to get him to yank all my teeth. Ok, I'm warned. And, as we all know, forewarned is forearmed. I shall go loaded for bear.

Labor of Love

Today is Oldest Son’s 21st birthday. He’s officially “grown” now. One down, two to go. It was not Labor Day the year he was born, but I find it rather fitting that it’s Labor Day this year, because mothering him is much more a labor of love today than it was back then. So it goes, I’m told, by those whose babies are grown now....

I Feel Bad About My Neck

Every so often, I get a hankerin’ to read something just for the joy of reading. When I was young, I read so much, I often got told to “put that book down and go outside and play!” Today, it’s a little easier for me what with all the great blogs being written – I don’t have to go to the library or Barnes & Noble to read...

Oldest Son Back in the Nest

Jul 29

For what seems like the bazillionth time, Oldest Son’s girlfriend kicked him out last Thursday and he moved home. There are some things that are vastly different this time around: 1. He had a new job within 24 hrs. (WOW!) 2. He is actually ignoring his phone more than he’s not when it’s the girlfriend calling to continue the drama. (DOUBLE WOW!) 3....

Getting Over Being Such a Hard Head

Feb 26

I went to bed early last night, and much appreciate the well wishes from all of you. I’m proud to report that the fever broke about 3:15am. I woke up, my forehead was all wet like I’d just washed my face and the broken-bone-aches I went to bed with were gone. I got up, got a drink of water, washed my face for real and went back to bed and slept until...

Called On the Carpet

Feb 12

A close friend called today, asked in a somber tone if I ‘had a minute’ (which should have been my clue) and proceeded to call me on the carpet for a mix of valid and invalid infractions. Oy. Two hours later, we were back on the same page and wavelength again, thankfully. Interestingly, I learned a few things about myself in the process. For starters, I...

Admitting I’m Officially Old

Sep 17

Ok, so it’s something I must grudgingly do, but do, nonetheless. I am old. Not old in the senile, tell-you-the-same-story-20-times kind of way, but definitely in the these-bones-can’t-move-like-they-used-to-move kind of way. I have irrefutable evidence: I think I’ve either cracked a rib, or bruised the crap out of one. How, you ask? Playing football...
