Travel Plans

I would love to travel the world and see places I’ve read about, but it’s not a burning desire that won’t leave me alone. At least not right now. But there are a few places – no, people and places – I would like to go see: The Farm: This is a picture I want to one day have my own picture of, with me in that chair. It’s at a place...

The Value of a High School Diploma Revisited

Three years ago, I wrote about the value of a high school diploma. On this morning of Second Son's high school graduation, I'm proud to say he was one of the students who decided to flip the bird at me and cross over to the other side of the room.

Safety and Change: Yes, They Can Co-Exist

My mind gets scattered all over the place. I catch myself thinking more than one thing at a time, and it’s like I have to decide which thing to pay attention to. It’s hard to tune things out so I can pay attention to ONLY one thing. Hence why I find meditation so difficult. Yet, also why I can’t leave it alone. But that whole issue is one of the...

Taking a Leap of Faith

I just did one of the hardest things to do as a mom: I pushed my baby out of the nest. Oldest Son came back to live at home, yet AGAIN, this past July. When he came home, he had a job, a car, a driver’s license, and car insurance. Gradually over the months since, he lost all of those. In addition, he lost his sense of autonomy and somehow lost track of his...

It’s All About My Bite, They Say

Apr 21

So, I went to see said denturist on Friday. No surprise, he sang the "Keep Your Teeth as Long as You Can" song to me. Ugh. However, his wife/assistant/receptionist was much more supportive and gave me a lot of information and answered all my questions - from the obvious to the ridiculous. LOVE her. Dr. Denturist referred me to an oral surgeon for a consult and warned me that I'd have a hard sell trying to get him to yank all my teeth. Ok, I'm warned. And, as we all know, forewarned is forearmed. I shall go loaded for bear.

The Obama Promise

I imagine everyone with a blog is writing about the inauguration of President Obama today. I’m no exception. I purposefully scheduled no appointments this morning, intending instead to watch the festivities on TV since I can’t be there in person. Though I did end up taking a few calls and helping a couple of clients, at 10:30am, I walked away from the...

Note: The votes via comments and email for A outnumbered the votes for B, as you can see. I have disabled the links below and taken those temporary sites down. Thanks to Benigna Bide’s question about functionality, I’ve got both versions of the new and WordPress-improved Suzanne Says… installed on my development server. Here is Version A Here is...

Yes. We. Can.

Song & video, featuring a star cast, by will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas. Inspired by Barack Obama’s ‘Yes We Can’ speech in New Hampshire. Yes, We Can! It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can. It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we...
