Thursday Thirteen #15

Thirteen Things That Bug Me My single gray eyelash That I can clean a room and 10 minutes after the kids are in it, you can’t tell I did anything My bed not being made (don’t fall out of your chair on that one, Mom, but it’s true!) People who say one thing and do another My chin hairs…or how ’bout the fact that I have them in the first...

Diagnosis: Bacillary Dysentery

That even sounds bad, doesn’t it? Well, let me assure you - it IS bad. Not fun, either. But it’s how I spent my weekend. You? Everything started off ok…we (PDD and I and her friend) went to Second Son’s football game Friday night. Oh! I almost forgot! We were on the news, the 3 of us! Yep - Hollywood’ll be calling next week, I’m sure. (As much as I’m sure you want to get to the details of my dysentery, let me soapbox a little about this experience. Just a little…I promise.)

“I Hate You!” Means You Must Be Doing Something Right

Aug 24

Almost 21 years ago (8 days shy of 21 years ago, to be exact), I became a mother. Of course, I was going to be the best mom ever (weren't we all?!) and my children would listen, do what they were told without argument, understand that I knew what was best for them and thank me for being such a good mom. Yeah - well, one can dream, right? In the years since, I have fucked up just about every way imaginable when it comes to mothering. Big mistakes, little mistakes and all sizes of mistakes in between. And the hell of it is, I'm STILL fucking up on a regular basis. But, I'm ok with my fuck ups, and here's why:

Second Saturday at Philbrook Art Museum

Remember the art program PDD attended at the end of the school year? Well, when we went to her ‘exhibit’ the last week of the program, we found out that the art museum has special program on the second Saturday of every month (that’s free!) where families can go and participate in art projects. Second Saturday in June we participated in a scavenger...

Busy With a Capital B!

So, ok, as I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, I SUCK at things like NaBloPoMo. I post much more often when I’m not trying to post everyday than I do when I am trying to post everday. Must be the inner rebel in me…I don’t know. But I’ve decided to do a little experiment: July’s NaBloPoMo theme is: Food. Now, come on – can...

A Breath of Fresh Air

Second Son broke up with his former girlfriend a couple of months ago. Of course, I am the last to know anything, so I was somewhat confused when he and one of the neighbor’s daughters started ‘hanging out’ together. PDD has been friends with this particular girl for awhile now. She’s only 6 months younger than Second Son, but she is the...

PDD Feeling at Home at VBS

PDD attended Vacation Bible School with Baby Sis and Baby Nephew this week. There were 948 kids, 37 leaders, 267 volunteers (of which Baby Sis was one), and 177 teen helpers in attendance this year. Uhhh…yeah… A big ol’ honkin’ VBS! Certainly the biggest I’ve ever witnessed! PDD was a bit leery upon arriving the first morning....
