It's true that you'll never fully appreciate the value of backups until you do something like this. I remember leaving some of my hard graft on a communal university pc a few years back, and was horrified when I arrived the next day to see the machine had been replaced! Nancy – you’re right – and it chaps my behind to have to take time out to do it, but when stuff like this happens – OH!! am I glad I do! lol

Mike – making mistakes is something I’m rather good at! lol But it does reduce the sting a bit to say to myself, “ahhh…another lesson to share so someone else doesn’t have to do this idiot stunt.”

Hey thanks for the reminder! I just did that yesterday — it was long overdue, but your horror story reminds me again that this is not an optional task these days (like if I have time or not.)

What I certainly DO NOT have time for, would be to try to restore an entire site if I lost it for any reason.

Being prepared is surely a virtue to cultivate — AND practice!
